Two women made an appearance in court, facing charges of murdering a rugby player who was fatally stabbed outside a nightclub in Cornwall, England.
Tia Taylor, 21, from Northey Road, Bodmin, and Chelsea Powell, 22, from Granny's Green, Bodmin, appeared before Truro Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.
Police were summoned to Victoria Square on Castle Canyke Road in Bodmin, Cornwall, at 3:15 a.m. on April 30 following reports of a stabbing. The incident resulted in the tragic death of Mr. Allen, a rugby player who had recently moved to Bodmin.
Additionally, seven other individuals sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital, with some injuries classified as serious.
Known affectionately as Mike or 'Chabel' by his family and friends, Mr. Allen's presence at the rugby club has been commemorated with a shrine adorned with flowers and pictures of him.
Expressing their heartfelt appreciation, his family released a statement paying tribute to him, emphasizing his role as a beloved son, brother, grandson, and uncle who cherished his dogs. They also extended their gratitude to the local community for the support they have received.
Taylor and Powell will remain in custody until their next court appearance, in relation to Allen's untimely death.
Another individual, Jake Hill, 24, from Jubilee Terrace, Bodmin, had previously been charged with one count of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent under Section 18. Hill is currently being held on remand and is set to stand trial at Truro Crown Court in November.
Devon and Cornwall Police issued a statement, urging the public to refrain from speculating on social media about the case due to ongoing criminal proceedings.
