The small town of Oko-Ogbele in Delta State, Nigeria was left devastated when the remains of two young twin boys, aged seven, were discovered in separate shallow graves.
The horrifying incident, allegedly motivated by money rituals, has plunged the entire community into mourning.
According to reports from Sahara Reporters, the father of the deceased twins, Mr. Olise Agwunobi, shared the tragic details.
He revealed that two relatives of the boys' father, along with a neighbor, conspired in the abduction and murder of the innocent victims, Chiagozi Agwunobi and Chidelu Agwunobi.
Mr. Agwunobi expressed the family's deep confusion and shock, finding it difficult to comprehend the tragedy that had befallen them.
The grieving father recounted the distressing moment when he returned home from work and realized that his twins were missing.
He and his wife immediately raised the alarm within the community, seeking help in locating their children.
Despite the community's collective efforts to find them, the twins remained unaccounted for.
Days later, a neighbor came forward with crucial information, disclosing that he had seen Mr. Agwunobi's cousin with the twins, though their whereabouts were unknown.
Eventually, the neighbour and the cousin confessed to their heinous act, admitting that they had used the boys for money rituals.
Chimeize, a family member who participated in the search, shared the emotional impact on their close-knit community.
The shocking event had left a deep wound, as such a tragedy had never occurred before.
Initially, they suspected a kidnapping, but soon discovered the horrifying truth.
After receiving the tip from the younger brother of one of the culprits, the community, joined by the police, ventured into the bush to locate the boys' bodies.
They found separate graves for each twin, prompting a sense of closure amid the haunting revelation of the children's fate.
Two of the suspects, Nwanozie Uzor and Onuwa Ajie, have been arrested, while the community is still in pursuit of the alleged leader, Chukwudi Edemuzor.
The arrested culprits confessed that Edemuzor orchestrated the gruesome act, instructing them to find male children with dreadlocks for the rituals.
The family learned that the twins' tongues, hair, one finger from each boy, and one eye from each child had been savagely removed.
Additionally, a small sum of money was discovered at the dumping site, believed to be part of the ritual.
The police have seized the money as evidence.
Disturbingly, the suspects boasted to others that their actions would bring them immense wealth before December 2023, heightening the shock and outrage within the community.
The remains of the innocent twin boys have now been taken to the mortuary, as the community seeks justice for their tragic loss.
