In a devastating incident, police allege that a man forcefully entered an apartment and tragically killed his ex-girlfriend while she held their baby.
The baby was injured but is expected to recover. The horrifying attack continued as the man went on to kill two other women at the residence.
The suspect, Caleb Venson, is currently in custody at the Tulsa County Jail in Oklahoma, facing three counts of first-degree murder.
He is also being held on a $95,000 bond for charges of burglary in the first degree and shooting with intent to kill.
The victims have been identified as Ashley Atwell, 38, Annaway Mackey, 20, and Sarah Gonzales, 19.
Ashley and Venson had broken up over a year ago, and despite that, he moved into an apartment across the street, causing fear for Ashley's safety.
She took precautions like placing a butter knife in her door at night due to her concerns about his behavior.
The tragedy unfolded early on a Monday morning at the Wood Creek Apartments in Oklahoma. Officers received reports of a triple homicide at the scene.
Venson had reportedly shot out a sliding glass door to gain entry into the apartment.
Inside the apartment, he shot and killed his ex-girlfriend while she was holding their baby. Two other women were also killed during the violent attack.
When the police arrived, they found the three women deceased, but thankfully the injured baby was found alive on the ground next to one of the victims.
The infant was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery, and doctors expect the baby to survive.
During the incident, Venson approached a 13-year-old boy who lived in the apartment, but fortunately, he was not shot.
The boy managed to escape through a window and called for help. Venson left the scene but later turned himself in to the authorities.
The community is in shock and grief over the loss of three lives in such a tragic way.
A court hearing is scheduled for the suspect on Wednesday.
The sister of one of the victims expressed her anger and pain, stating that she believes the suspect deserves severe punishment for his actions.
