The incident occurred on Sunday during a stop-and-search operation along the Ughelli/Asaba Road in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of the state.

The gunmen, numbering about six, attacked the officers, resulting in the deaths of Inspector Monday Orowhigoh, Inspector Festus Obey, and another unidentified mobile policeman.

The attackers also took away the officers' service rifles and set their patrol van on fire.
