Lincolnton Man Arrested in Attempted Murder Case After He Shot His Wife Multiple Times and Pushed Her Out Of A Moving Car

Randall Lane Shropshire, a 53-year-old resident of Lincolnton, found himself at the center of a disturbing incident when he pushed his wife out of his car on the evening of June 30, 2023.

A concerned motorist witnessed the event and promptly contacted the police to report what had allegedly transpired.

Responding to the call, first responders located Shropshire's wife, Leandre Shropshire, who was in serious condition.

She was swiftly transported to the hospital via ambulance for treatment, as confirmed by the authorities.

The details leading up to the incident remain unclear, and the police have refrained from disclosing any information regarding a potential motive.

However, in their pursuit of answers, investigators closed a section of Highway 321 to thoroughly examine the scene for evidence.

It was during this process that they identified Randall Shropshire as a person of interest in the case, initiating a search for both him and the white car he was believed to be driving.

On July 1, a breakthrough occurred as the suspect's phone indicated his presence in Knox County, Tennessee.

Acting swiftly on this lead, officials from the Knox County Sheriff's Office located the vehicle associated with Shropshire.

According to reports, Shropshire had taken refuge in a first-floor room at the Oyo Hotel in Knoxville, where he had barricaded himself in.

The police issued a news release stating, "Officers negotiated with the suspect and took him into custody without incident."

Shropshire was apprehended and is currently being held without bond at the Knox County Jail.

He faces a charge of felony attempted first-degree murder.

An extradition hearing is pending, and his next court appearance is scheduled for July 6, as indicated by jail records.

The availability of legal representation for Shropshire in this case remains uncertain.
