The lifeless body of a young woman has been discovered in a latrine inside a Catholic church in Kenya. The woman, identified as Josephine Karimi, was only 24 years old and had recently started working as a secretary for a Catholic Church association in the country. Her disappearance on June 28 sparked a thorough investigation, which ultimately led to the grim discovery of her body on July 3.
Karimi had been employed at the St. Mary's Catholic Women Association (CWA) Centre in Kiaragana, Embu County, for just seven days before her life was brutally taken and her body dumped in the latrine. The news of her death has plunged her family and the entire Kivwe village into mourning.
According to reports, Karimi's family grew concerned when she failed to return home on June 28, and attempts to contact her were unsuccessful as her mobile phone was turned off. A Catholic priest informed them that Karimi was not present at the center and that no one had any knowledge of her whereabouts.

Alarmed by these developments, Karimi's father visited the center and discovered that her office was locked and she was nowhere to be found. In their desperate search for Karimi, the family announced her disappearance in churches and on social media, but no one had any information to share.
It wasn't until Karimi's father reported the matter to the Runyenjes Police Station and provided a statement that the investigation took a significant turn. Detectives accompanied the father to the Catholic Center, where they interrogated a casual laborer who worked for the church.
During the questioning, the laborer revealed that he knew where Karimi was, leading the authorities to her lifeless body in the pit latrine. The laborer, who worked on the church premises, is now considered the primary suspect in the murder investigation.
The police are treating the case as murder and have recovered the victim's body for a post-mortem examination. Karimi's family expressed their grief and raised concerns about the lack of security at the office where their daughter worked alone.
The Catholic priest, Father Amedeus Mugendi, declined to comment on the incident, deferring to the ongoing police investigation. As the investigation progresses, Karimi's family seeks justice for their beloved daughter, while the community grapples with the shocking and tragic loss of a young life.
