In Bauchi State, a 19-year-old woman from Ishehi hamlet has been arrested by the police for the alleged theft of a newborn baby.
The woman, Hajara Usman, is believed to have worked together with an 18-year-old man named Ibrahim Usman from Dugurgama Hamlet in carrying out the crime.
The incident was reported by a resident of Galawa area in Akuyam District.
According to the report, the person's daughter's newborn baby was taken from their home around 4:30 am on a Tuesday.
Acting swiftly, the police immediately launched an investigation and managed to apprehend the culprits involved in this heart-wrenching act.
The stolen baby was found in the possession of Hajara Usman from Ishehi hamlet, who collaborated with Ibrahim Usman from Dugurgama hamlet to carry out the theft.
The police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Ahmed Wakil, stated that the investigation is still ongoing to determine the motives behind the crime.
The suspects will be thoroughly profiled, and once the investigation concludes, they will be charged and brought before the court to face the consequences of their actions.
In a separate incident, the police detectives recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition that was abandoned by an unknown person after sighting security agents.
The incident occurred in the Tulu Divisional Police Headquarters area, where the police responded to credible intelligence provided by the village head of Sabon Garin Tulu.
Despite the fleeing suspect, the police are determined to intensify their efforts and collaborate to apprehend the person responsible for abandoning the dangerous weapon.
