Social Media Influencer, Andrew Tate's House Arrest Extended By Romania Court Amidst Serious Charges
In Romania's capital, a court ruling on Tuesday has extended Andrew Tate's house arrest by another 30 days.
The social media influencer, known for his divisive online presence, faces charges of rape, human trafficking, and forming a criminal gang to exploit women sexually.
The decision by the Bucharest Tribunal comes a month after formal indictments were made against Andrew Tate, his brother Tristan, and two Romanian women in the same case.
All four defendants, who were apprehended near Bucharest in late December and have denied the allegations, will remain under house arrest for an additional 30 days.
The Tate Brothers
Outside the court, Tate expressed his belief in justice prevailing, stating, "the moral arc of the universe bends towards justice in the end." He and his brother remain resilient, putting their faith in the judicial process.
The Tate brothers, who hold dual U.K.-U.S. citizenship, are likely to appeal the latest ruling. They had previously lost an appeal on July 6, resulting in a prior extension of their house arrest.
After spending three months in police detention, the brothers were granted house arrest following an appeal on March 31.
In June, the Romanian anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, requested an extension of the house arrest measure after concluding its investigation.
Andrew Tate, a figure with a substantial Twitter following of 7.2 million, has consistently maintained his innocence, claiming a lack of evidence against him and alleging a political conspiracy aimed at silencing him.
The case involves seven female victims who were lured under false pretences of love and brought to Romania, where they were subjected to sexual exploitation and physical violence by the gang.
One defendant is accused of raping a woman twice in March 2022.
Andrew Tate had faced previous bans from prominent social media platforms due to hate speech and misogynistic comments, including victim-blaming women for sexual assaults.
In Britain, several women are pursuing civil claims against him, seeking damages for alleged sexual violence.
