In Florida, a 38-year-old woman named Tenisha Geddis was arrested after an alleged altercation with her sister turned dangerous.
Reports indicate that Geddis attempted to throw acid at her sister during an argument but missed, accidentally hitting her sister's daughter instead, causing injury to the child.
The incident occurred on Friday evening at Geddis' residence on NW 26th Avenue in Miami-Dade.
Law enforcement responded to a domestic disturbance call, where they observed Geddis striking her sister in the face.
However, both Geddis and her sister refused to provide further details or file a report, leading the officers to leave the scene.
While the police were present due to the initial altercation, a second argument erupted between Geddis and her sister.
It is reported that Geddis began throwing objects at her sister, escalating the situation.
During the escalating argument, Geddis grabbed a large white bottle of HDX muriatic acid, a diluted solution of hydrochloric acid often used for pool maintenance, and attempted to throw it at her sister.
The container of HDX Muriatic Acid comes with a warning label indicating that it can cause severe burns and eye damage if splashed.
According to authorities, Geddis missed her sister with the acid, but unfortunately, the dangerous liquid struck her sister's daughter.
The child suffered injuries to the front area of her body. The incident was promptly reported to a detective from the Miami-Dade Police Department's Domestic Violence Unit, and the parties involved were separated.
Geddis was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
She is facing charges of felony aggravated child abuse, felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and misdemeanor battery.
Her bond has been set at $7,500.
The Miami-Dade Police Department has not provided further details regarding the incident at this Time.
