A man from Utah, USA, who had been sending death threats to Joe Biden for years, was shot and killed by FBI agents during a raid on his residence.
Craig Robertson, 75, was fatally shot by agents at his doorstep in Provo after they were alerted to his online threats against the president.
On Monday, August 7, Robertson took to Facebook to post: ‘I hear Biden is coming to Utah. Digging out my old ghillie suit and cleaning the dust off the M24 sniper rifle.’
These threats were among numerous posts on his two Facebook accounts, alongside Pro-Trump content and photos of him posing with various firearms and tactical gear.
Other statements by Robertson included a threat to assassinate New York district attorney Alvin Bragg, who is currently prosecuting Donald Trump, in a parking garage.
‘I’ll be waiting in the courthouse parking garage with my suppressed Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm to smoke a radical fool prosecutor that should never have been elected. BYE, BYE, TO ANOTHER CORRUPT B______!!!’ he posted earlier.
A criminal complaint against Robertson was flagged by Truth Social, the social network owned by Mr. Trump, after he posted threats against Mr. Bragg in March.
FBI agents visited Robertson's residence after this, but he dismissed the post as a ‘dream’ and told them not to return without a warrant.
However, the threats against public officials persisted, with Robertson posting on Tuesday that ‘Perhaps Utah will become famous this week as the place a sniper took out Biden the Marxist.’
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, FBI agents carried out a raid at Robertson's home, just hours before Biden's scheduled appearances in the city.
During the raid, special agents attempted to serve arrest and search warrants, resulting in Robertson being shot and killed around 6:15 am.
‘The FBI takes all shooting incidents involving our agents or task force members seriously,’ the FBI stated.
‘In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident is under review by the FBI’s Inspection Division.
As this is an ongoing matter, we have no further details to provide.’
