In 2019, newsmen first covered the story of former Houston firefighter Spencer Craig and his now-defunct business, Stonewall Pools Company.
A jury in Montgomery County found Craig guilty of serious charges, including theft and fraud. DD Pratt, a victim, once believed Craig to be a friendly person, almost like a family member.
The Pratts invested tens of thousands of dollars in Craig's pool company, only to discover it was a complete deception.
To some victims, Craig seemed like a trustworthy friend. Many individuals, like Kelly Hall and Rachelle Guillory, lost substantial amounts of money they had entrusted to Craig for investment.
Kelly Hall, whose husband is a Captain in the Houston Fire Department, expressed the painful reality that there was no actual pool company. These victims lost large sums, leaving them with little hope of recovery.
A total of twelve strangers, along with a judge, reached the verdict that Craig was responsible for these actions. They hope he will have the courage to apologize for the theft.
The victims believe that if he can deceive friends, neighbors, and those who trust him, he will continue to harm others. Spencer Craig will face sentencing by the judge on January 12, 2024, with the possibility of a life sentence.
