A male model from the United Kingdom, known for his flashy online presence, has been sentenced to nearly seven years in a Peruvian prison for attempting to leave the country with £300,000 worth of cocaine.
London native Modou Adams, who attracted a large following on social media with his stylish persona as 'boywholives,' has admitted to his involvement in drug trafficking, leading to his lengthy imprisonment in South America.
At the age of 25, Adams was apprehended at Lima's international airport while attempting to board a flight to London via Paris, carrying close to three kilograms of cocaine in his luggage.
The quick trial, conducted by the same police force that detained the infamous 'Peru Two' in 2013, resulted in a swift judgment against Adams, branding him as a TikTok user and an experienced model.
In his online exploits, Adams proudly showcased his journey in Peru, documenting visits to places like Cuco, a notorious hotspot for drug smuggling, and the iconic Machu Picchu, before his eventual arrest in Lima.
His arrest, which took place on September 30, was a culmination of his second visit to Peru within a short span, during which he stayed in an upscale district in Lima and was eventually caught by authorities at the airport.
CCTV footage from his hotel captured the moment Adams was seen carrying the incriminating suitcase, which was later revealed to contain hidden cocaine compartments.
Amidst the unfolding drama, two officers from the anti-drug squad detained Adams at the airport, revealing the concealed drugs from the false bottom of his suitcase.
According to anti-drugs prosecutor Lincoln Fuentes, Adams had likely been involved in similar drug trafficking activities during his previous trip to Peru, suggesting a pattern of criminal behavior.
Fuentes cautioned against the allure of easy money, highlighting the severe legal consequences and risks associated with smuggling drugs out of Peru.
