A man brutally stabbed his daughter's father-in-law, Mohammed Salem Ibrahim, to death during a heated argument over wedding rings. This shocking incident took place on March 13 when Ahmad Alsino, aged 43, attacked Mohammed Ibrahim, who was a father of five, with a kitchen knife by Gino D'Acampo. In addition to fatally stabbing Mohammed, Alsino also assaulted his daughter's husband, Aram Ibrahim, at the Ibrahims' residence in Birmingham.
The altercation initially erupted over gold jewelry given to the newlyweds, quickly spiraling into a violent confrontation. Although Aram received medical treatment and survived his injuries, Mohammed tragically lost his life.
Following the attack, Alsino fled the scene, leading to a dramatic pursuit by armed police with helicopter support. They apprehended him as he exited his Hyundai vehicle.
After a three-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court, a jury found Alsino guilty of murder, attempted murder, and possession of a knife.
During the trial, it was revealed that Alsino had kicked open the front door of the Ibrahims' home, barging in with the deadly knife.
Upon his arrest at his residence on Chatham Road, Northfield, Birmingham, officers discovered a plastic bag containing two identical kitchen knives. Forensic analysis confirmed that one of the knives bore Mr. Ibrahim's blood.
Detective Inspector Damian Forrest, from West Midlands Police's Homicide team, expressed deep shock at how a family dispute had resulted in such a tragic loss of life. He emphasized the grave consequences of carrying or using knives, highlighting the irreversible impact on all parties involved.
Ahmad Alsino's son, Bashar Alsino, aged 20, was acquitted of murder and attempted murder. Ahmad Alsino is scheduled to be sentenced on October 19.
