Fatal Shooting Erupts at Houston Used Car Dealership After Price Dispute

A suspect is now in custody after a heated argument over pricing turned into a tragic shooting at a used car dealership in Houston. Malcolm Jakobe Lewis, a 20-year-old, has been arrested on a murder charge. The incident occurred on October 16 at Star Motor Company in the southeast part of the city.

The Houston police received a call about a shooting at around 1:25 p.m. When they reached the scene, they discovered a man identified as 25-year-old Daniel Abdelmalak in the parking lot, suffering from gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, Houston Fire Department paramedics declared him dead on the spot.

As detectives looked into the matter, they found out that Lewis and another individual were engaged in a dispute with Abdelmalak and his father regarding a business deal. This disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, with Lewis and the other person assaulting Abdelmalak and his father. Tragically, one of the suspects produced a gun and shot Abdelmalak multiple times before they fled the scene.

Family members revealed that Abdelmalak was trying to protect his father when he was shot, and emotions ran high at the scene, as they consoled each other with tearful hugs.

Lewis turned himself in at the Houston Police Department headquarters on a Friday and confessed to his involvement in the shooting. No information about the second suspect was released. Court records indicate that Lewis had been indicted on October 11 for an unrelated robbery with bodily harm that occurred in July.

Tributes have been pouring in on Abdelmalak's Facebook page, with friends and well-wishers expressing their grief and fond memories. Additionally, his family has set up a GoFundMe page to collect donations for Archangel Raphael Church in honor of Abdelmalak. So far, they've raised approximately $7,000.
