An entire Israeli family, including twin six-year-old girls and a four-year-old boy, tragically lost their lives in an attack by Hamas shortly after they assured their friends they were safe.
Tamar, 35, and her husband Yonatan Kedem-Siman Tov sought refuge at their home in Nir Oz, located less than two miles from the Gaza border, along with their daughters Shachar and Arbel and their son Omer on a Saturday.
Mrs. Kedem-Siman Tov sent a WhatsApp message to her friends in Sydney, Australia, to let them know they were safe amid the rocket attacks. She told Yishai and Mor Lacob, "We got into the shelter in our house, we’re all going okay." However, she later stopped responding.
Tragically, the Lacobs later learned that Hamas terrorists had breached the family's safe room. The Israeli government confirmed the worst fears of their friends on a Sunday evening.
Elad Strohmayer, an Israeli diplomat, expressed, "An entire family vanished from the face of the earth." He revealed that Tamar, Yonatan, and their three children "were brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists in Kibbutz Nir Oz." He urged people to remember their names.
The death toll from Hamas' unprecedented attack has reached an estimated 900 in Israel and over 400 in Gaza. This figure includes at least 100 bodies discovered in Be'eri, a Kibbutz about three miles from the Gaza border.
The Kedem-Siman Tov family had posted a selfie on social media just the night before the Hamas attack. The image of the happy family was shared by prominent figures, including American comedian Amy Schumer, who called out Hamas as a terrorist organization and condemned their actions.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett paid tribute on social media, highlighting the family's happiness and love, all of which was tragically extinguished by the Palestinian terrorists.
Mrs. Kedem-Siman Tov's social media profile indicates her experience, including work as an adviser to Israel's Ministry of the Interior and the Prime Minister's Office. She had served in the army as an intelligence soldier and had lived in Nir Oz for 15 years.
Her husband worked as an operations manager and wheat grower in Gdash, according to the website. Mrs. Kedem-Siman Tov also noted that her grandfathers were among the founders of the country.
The Lacobs expressed their grief, calling her a special woman.
