In a recent turn of events, a daycare owner's husband, who faced allegations of sexually molesting children at the center, has been released from police custody and placed under home detention.
Shanteari Weems, a 50-year-old daycare owner, took swift action upon learning of her husband's alleged misconduct.
In July 2022, at the Mandarin Oriental in southwest D.C., Weems confronted her husband, James S. Weems Jr., regarding his inappropriate behavior with the children under her care in Baltimore. The confrontation escalated, leading to a physical altercation.
In response, Weems drew her 9mm handgun, which she had brought for protection, and fired it. Police records indicate that Weems Jr. sustained injuries to his neck and leg.
Weems Jr. faced multiple charges, including 13 counts related to three victims, two counts of a third-degree sex offense, three counts of second-degree assault, and one count of displaying obscene material to a minor, as reported by Bossip.
Currently, Weems is serving a four-year sentence for shooting her husband, as reported by WUSA9.
In a recent court decision, the retired Baltimore police officer was placed under level 3 home detention.
