Months after admitting to murder, a man from Osage, Iowa, was sentenced to 50 years in prison for brutally killing a woman he had just met.
Nathan James Gilmore, now 24, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder after originally being charged with first-degree murder. He was sentenced on Monday, with a requirement to serve at least 35 years in prison before being eligible for parole.
In a shocking revelation, Gilmore expressed no remorse or emotions about the murder, stating that it came "easy" to him and wasn't the worst thing he had done in his life.
He confessed to stabbing 29-year-old Angela Nicole Bradbury in the neck and placing her head on a stick at Greenbelt River Trail Park in Mitchell County on April 6, 2021.
Angela Bradbury was reported missing by her family members in February 2022, nearly a year after her murder.
A teenager discovered a woman's skull in July 2021, and by February 2022, investigators confirmed that it belonged to Bradbury. Additional remains were found at Greenbelt River Trail Park the following month, pointing to a homicide.
Evidence showed that Gilmore had sent Snapchat messages expressing arousal at the sounds of a person dying and mentioning Bradbury's remains.
When interviewed by authorities in August 2022, he provided inconsistent accounts of his actions on the day of the murder.
He first attributed his knowledge of the remains to media reports and town information but later admitted to dropping off Bradbury on the last day she was seen alive and going back to work after that.
GPS records from Gilmore's Facebook account placed him at the Greenbelt River Trail Park crime scene.
Additionally, a disturbing drawing was found in his living room, depicting a satanic goat's head in the shape of a pentagram with what seemed to be blood spatters, alongside the numbers "04-06" (the date of the murder) and "43.3, -92.8" (an abbreviated GPS coordinate for Greenbelt River Trail Park).
