Jonathan Majors' Criminal Case Continues as Judge Rejects Dismissal Request

Jonathan Majors is headed to trial in his criminal case.

The 34-year-old actor made a virtual appearance in a New York City courtroom on Wednesday, where Judge Michael Gaffey rejected the request to dismiss the Manhattan District Attorney's criminal case against him, according to PEOPLE.

This decision means that Majors will go to trial, following his arrest on March 25 after an alleged domestic dispute and subsequent misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment.

The trial is now scheduled for November 29. During the hearing, Majors' defense team also requested that certain evidence containing "sensitive information" be kept sealed from public access. The defense was granted permission to submit their opposition to this request by November 6.

An attorney for Majors declined to provide a comment when contacted by PEOPLE.

Majors' criminal trial had previously faced multiple delays; it was initially set to commence in August. The actor was arrested in New York City in March after what the police at the time described as "a domestic dispute with a 30-year-old female." He was charged with several misdemeanor assault and harassment charges and could face up to a year in jail if convicted during the upcoming criminal trial.

Before the recent hearing and the motion to dismiss the criminal case against him, Majors had last virtually appeared before the court on September 15. During that appearance, his legal team accused the prosecution of "attempting to bury" crucial evidence in the case, as reported by Rolling Stone.

While Majors has retained his leading roles in various Marvel Studios projects, such as the second season of Disney+'s Loki series and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, the actor reportedly lost multiple film roles and advertising deals in the weeks following his arrest.

Majors is set to star as an aspiring bodybuilder in the upcoming film Magazine Dreams, scheduled for release on December 8.
