One individual has been apprehended in connection with the shooting of a man in Indianapolis, who was formerly romantically involved with a famous TikTok star.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), law enforcement responded to a residence on the 5900 block of Riva Ridge Drive, near South Arlington Avenue and Thompson Road, at approximately 6 a.m. local time on Monday. At the scene, they found a male victim with gunshot injuries, who was later declared deceased.
The IMPD clarified that while the initial report suggested the possibility of a self-inflicted shooting, further investigation revealed that the wounds were not self-inflicted, leading to the classification of the incident as a homicide.
In their statement, the IMPD affirmed that one individual has been apprehended and that they are not actively pursuing any other suspects. Investigators are confident that all individuals involved have been identified.
The IMPD assured that they will continue their inquiry while awaiting the precise cause and circumstances of the man's death, as determined by the Marion County Coroner's Office (MCCO).
Although the man's identity was not disclosed in the official press release by the IMPD, sources such as the Indy Star and local news station WTHR revealed him to be Devin Williams, 36 years of age.
Brandon Melendez, a friend of Williams, described him to the Indy Star as someone passionate about mixed martial arts and basketball, with active involvement in the local boxing community.
Additionally, Williams was previously in a relationship with TikTok sensation Kelsey Pumel, known for her popular social media presence under the handle "Growingwithkelsey," boasting over 2.5 million followers. Pumel and Williams share a daughter named Kobe. Pumel indirectly addressed his tragic demise in a recent emotional TikTok post.
In the video, a tearful Pumel disclosed, "Kobe's dad died, so we've had a bit of a rough day. I'm not ready to speak on what happened. I am currently in the anger phase... I did everything right. I fought so hard and did everything right so [Kobe] wouldn't have any trauma. And [Williams] just left her with a lifetime full of it and I can't protect her from this."
The TikTok video swiftly gained traction, amassing 8.8 million views, over 600k likes, and 34.7k comments as of Thursday morning. Pumel implored viewers to keep her daughter in their "thoughts and prayers" as she copes with the profound loss.
