In Washington, D.C., the police are looking into the tragic death of a transgender woman who lost her life over the weekend.
On October 14, Anee Roberson, aged 30, was attacked near Nellie's Sports Bar, a well-known gay hangout in Northwest D.C., before being hit by a car, as reported by Fox 5 DC, WUSA 9, and NBC Washington. She passed away at a local hospital.
A medical examiner determined that her cause of death was blunt force injuries, and it's being treated as a homicide, according to WUSA 9.
The driver of the car that struck Roberson stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police, according to the reports. Authorities have stated that they are not connected to the assault on Roberson.
It has been confirmed by the police, as reported by Fox 5 DC and NBC Washington, that Anee Roberson was a transgender woman. Whether her death is being investigated as a hate crime is currently uncertain.
Currently, the police are actively seeking the person responsible for assaulting her, and as of October 20, no arrests have been made.
The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a $25,000 reward for information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this tragic incident.
