In Glendale, Arizona, a man named Hans Schmidt, 26, is in critical condition after being shot while preaching about a church service.
The city's police department revealed that Schmidt, a former combat medic and the church's outreach director, was promoting the church's service when he was shot in the head. Initially assumed as an assault, medical staff later confirmed it was a gunshot wound.
Schmidt, a married man with two children, urgently requires help, and the police seek the public's aid in identifying the shooters.
His church, Victory Chapel, posted on their website, asking for prayers and support, mentioning Schmidt's dire need for a miraculous recovery.
The church is also gathering donations to support Schmidt's medical expenses, accepting contributions through their website and a dedicated GoFundMe page.
The organizers of the GoFundMe expressed that no one witnessed the shooting or identified the source of the gunshot.
People with any information about the incident can reach out to the Glendale Police Department at 623-930-3000.
Paul Sanchez, a witness near the scene, recalled that although Schmidt faced hostility while preaching, including hateful comments and people yelling at him, he never anticipated such a violent escalation.
