A former school employee from Connecticut faced arrest following accusations of repeated sexual assaults on an 11-year-old boy last summer.
Alyson Cranick, 42, surrendered to the police on Tuesday, charged with two counts of sexual assault and three counts related to endangering the welfare of a child and negatively influencing their morals.
The arrest followed a report by a relative of the victim to Connecticut State Police in September, revealing that the boy disclosed having been in a 'sexual relationship' with Cranick between July and August 2022.
During investigations, it was disclosed that the boy and Cranick communicated initially via iMessage and Snapchat, later transitioning to Discord to evade monitoring.
The victim admitted sneaking out of the house on about 14 occasions during the night to meet Cranick, who would either hide behind a neighbor's bush or visit his house, sometimes parking her car nearby.
Allegedly, the sexual encounters took place in a car and other undisclosed locations, as per police reports. The numerous messages exchanged between them were described as flirtatious and sexually suggestive.
Additionally, a picture of a bracelet labeled 'BFFLWB' ('Best Friends for Life With Benefits') was allegedly sent by Cranick to the boy, according to the arrest warrant.
Cranick allegedly emotionally manipulated the boy to spend more time with her, although he later distanced himself from her.
During police interviews, Cranick denied initiating sexual contact, stating her intent was to comfort the boy due to family concerns.
Her employment at the Regional 19 school district ended following a state Department of Children and Families investigation. Columbia Public Schools addressed the situation, labeling the allegations as distressing and emphasizing the utmost priority of child safety within the district.
Currently held on a $500,000 bond, Cranick's plea or legal representation remains undisclosed."
