Dark Turn for Ex-Teacher: Facing Felony Charges in Idaho for Alleged Inappropriate Conduct with Teen

A 36-year-old former teacher from Idaho has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a teenager. Law enforcement discovered the boy behind the wheel of her car when they pulled her over for driving without visible taillights, as she was reportedly too intoxicated to drive.

Jessica Lawson, who served as a teacher at South Fremont High School from August 2021 to June 2023, now faces felony rape charges. During the traffic stop on the morning of Nov. 6, an officer from the Saint Anthony Police Department found the teen in the driver's seat, stating he was allowed to drive because Lawson was "too drunk to drive," according to East Idaho News.

Although Lawson was not present in the car at the time, the teen revealed to the police that she had picked him up the previous night, taken him to her home in St. Anthony, and provided him with alcohol. The adolescent admitted to using marijuana before being driven home by the officer.

Later that day, the teen's parents contacted the officer, reporting that Lawson had driven their son to her house the previous night, and they engaged in sexual activity after she became intoxicated.

Lawson confirmed these details when she called the teen's mother, admitting to picking him up, taking him to her home, and providing him with alcohol. While acknowledging the presence of marijuana in her house, she denied giving any to the boy and refuted any further allegations.

Charged with two felony counts of rape involving a victim aged 16 to 17, where the perpetrator is three or more years older, as well as felony controlled substance delivery and misdemeanor dispensing alcohol to a minor, Lawson is currently held in Madison County Jail with a $250,000 bond.

In a curious turn of events, earlier this year, Lawson updated her Facebook cover photo to a snapshot of a poem discussing occasions when placing an "out-of-order" sign across one's heart may seem wise. This now takes on a cryptic meaning in light of her arrest.

If convicted, Lawson could face a maximum sentence of life behind bars.
