In a series of heartbreaking incidents, described as "tragic and senseless shootings," the suspect, Mavis Christian Jr., aged 52, ultimately took his own life, according to authorities in Memphis, Tennessee.
Responding to a reported shooting at the 100 block of Howard Drive on Saturday at 9:22 p.m., police discovered a female victim shot to death, and further investigations connected this scene to two more locations. In total, three other female relatives were found deceased. Christian is believed to have fatally shot two women and critically injured another on the 3600 block of Field Lark Drive, and he allegedly shot a fourth female victim on the 5000 block of Warring Road. The authorities clarified that Christian was a relative of the victims, as reported by WREG.
Christian was located early Sunday morning in a white Chevrolet Malibu in the 3000 block of Alta Road, where first responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Although the police did not disclose information about a suspected motive or identify the slain victims, they also did not specify the relationships between the suspect and the five victims. The lone survivor is a 15-year-old, according to Memphis police Public Information Officer Christopher Williams.
Expressing condolences, officers wrote, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their loved ones as our community grieves more lives taken by domestic violence.”
