Granbury City Council Candidate, Brad Benson Arrested on Child Pornography Charges Ahead of Local Election

A city council candidate in Granbury, Texas, was taken into custody one day before the local election, accused of having child pornography, as reported by FOX 4 in Dallas.

Brad Benson, who serves as a member of the Granbury Volunteer Fire Department, the deputy fire marshal, and a local businessman, is facing two charges of possessing child pornography.

The initial statement from the Republican Party of Hood County, posted on Facebook, suggested that the arrest might be related to a serious sex-related offense, although it acknowledged a lack of detailed information.

However, an updated statement later confirmed the party's withdrawal of support for Benson after discussions with law enforcement.

The Hood County District Attorney's Office, in conjunction with the Child Exploitation Unit, executed a search warrant at Benson's residence, leading to the discovery of child pornography.

Despite multiple agencies participating in the search, the district attorney's office declined to provide additional comments, citing an ongoing investigation. At the time of this report, Benson's campaign had not responded to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
