In Amarillo, Texas, a tragic incident unfolded as 20-year-old Angel Lynn Marine Varner is accused of killing her 7-month-old son, Jackson Knight Blackmon. Authorities say Varner allegedly threw the infant on the floor, went to sleep, and later initiated a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the child's funeral and cremation. The GoFundMe post, now removed, claimed the death was a mystery, seeking funds for the funeral, memorial, and cremation, along with jewelry containing the child's remains.
Varner lived with the boy's father and roommates, and a roommate reported that Varner had picked up the crying child early in the morning, followed by a disturbing "thud" sound from Varner's bedroom. An autopsy revealed the cause of death as blunt force trauma. During police interviews, Varner admitted to being violent with the child, including throwing him on the bed and applying pressure to his abdomen. Despite knowing the child was not breathing, Varner went back to sleep instead of calling for help.
Before confessing to the crime, Varner had set up the GoFundMe, suggesting the child's death was a mystery and seeking financial assistance for the funeral. GoFundMe confirmed the post's removal and refunded donors, clarifying that Varner did not receive any funds raised.
The child, Jackson, also had his own Facebook page administered by Varner, where a heartbreaking post confirmed his passing.
