Arvin Police officer, Delia Reyes Has Been arrested on allegations of Possessing Controlled Substance at Her Residence

In Bakersfield, California, an Arvin police sergeant, Delia Reyes, has been suspended with pay, while a Bakersfield police officer, DeAngelo Sanchez, quit his job following the discovery of an illegal controlled substance at their shared residence during a search by Kern County deputies.

Kern County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at Reyes and Sanchez's Bakersfield home, revealing a controlled substance.

Reyes, allegedly under the influence at the time of her booking, faces felony and misdemeanor charges, including possession of a controlled substance and being under the influence of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm.

Arvin Police Chief Alex Ghazalpour emphasized that this incident should not define the entire police department's hard work and integrity.

Reyes, who has six years of law enforcement experience, came to Arvin from the McFarland Police Department and was recently promoted to sergeant. She bonded out of jail and is scheduled to appear in court next week.

Officer DeAngelo Sanchez, sharing a residence with Reyes, resigned on the spot during the Kern County deputies' search. Though evidence of steroids was found, Sanchez was not present during the search.

A third individual, Francisco Beltran, associated with Reyes, was arrested on an active federal warrant, found in possession of law enforcement equipment, and a reportedly stolen firearm.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges will be submitted to the Kern County District Attorney for review.
