The Unsettling Disappearance of the $6 Million Golden Toilet from Winston Churchill's Birthplace

In a recent announcement by the Crown Prosecution Service, four individuals have been accused of involvement in the theft of a valuable golden toilet from the birthplace of Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, Oxfordshire, England, back in 2019. This 18-carat toilet, valued at nearly $6 million, was created by the Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan in 2016 and goes by the name "America." The fully functional artwork was originally on loan from the Guggenheim Museum and had been placed in the restroom that Winston Churchill had once used.

Regrettably, the golden toilet has yet to be recovered, as reported by the Associated Press. The individuals facing charges in this case are James Sheen, 39, Michael Jones, 38, Fred Doe, 35, and Bora Guccuk, 39, according to the CPS. James Sheen faces charges related to burglary, conspiracy to transfer criminal property, and transferring criminal property, while Michael Jones is charged with burglary. Fred Doe and Bora Guccuk are both charged with conspiracy to transfer criminal property.

The details regarding whether any of the accused have entered pleas or secured legal representation remain unclear. All four individuals are scheduled to appear in court on November 28th.
