Ex-ICU Nurse, Christopher P. Lambros Sentenced to 20 Years for Sexually Assaulting Unconscious Patients
A former intensive care unit nurse in Colorado, 62-year-old Christopher P. Lambros, has received a shocking sentence of 20 years in prison for sexually assaulting unconscious patients. Lambros was found guilty of six felony counts of attempted sexual assault, and the court ordered the sentences to be served consecutively, resulting in a total of 22 years behind bars.
This horrifying case came to light when a fellow nurse witnessed Lambros taking photos of a patient's genitals and reported the incident to authorities. Subsequent investigations led to the discovery of hundreds of photos and videos on Lambros' phone, depicting him sexually assaulting unconscious patients.
These victims, hospitalized and vulnerable, were filmed without their knowledge or consent.
The details of the crimes are particularly disturbing. Lambros not only filmed himself sexually abusing the patients, but he also kept a collection of these videos, referring to it as his "Dexter Collection" after the infamous fictional serial killer. This chilling reference adds another layer of depravity to his actions.
The sentence delivered by Judge Gretchen B. Larson reflects the severity of these crimes. In her statement, she expressed her shock and disgust at learning that some of the victims had passed away while in the ICU, raising the chilling possibility that they were abused during their final moments.
Lambros' actions have caused immense pain and suffering to his victims and their families. The mother of one victim who was identified in the photos and videos shared her heartbreak in court, detailing her daughter's death while hospitalized.
Prosecutors expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating that it reflected the voices and wishes of the victims' families. They acknowledged that some families chose not to participate in the proceedings, but emphasized that their pain and suffering were also considered.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of trust in healthcare settings. Patients put their lives in the hands of medical professionals and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. Lambros' betrayal of this trust is inexcusable and deserves the severe punishment he has received.
Following his release from prison, Lambros will face an additional two years of parole. He will also be permanently registered as a sex offender. While no sentence can fully erase the trauma inflicted upon the victims and their families, this outcome provides a measure of justice and ensures that Lambros will no longer be able to harm anyone else.
