A 14-year-old boy in California faces shocking charges of murder and attempted murder after allegedly attacking his family with "multiple weapons," authorities revealed. Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni reported that the teen, who remains unnamed due to his age, is now in Juvenile Hall following the Wednesday evening tragedy.
Police responded to a frantic 911 call from the boy claiming a home invasion led to the attack on his parents and sister. However, inconsistencies in his story and evidence soon raised red flags. Investigators learned the boy himself had "fabricated the break-in" and was responsible for the violence.
Sadly, the parents, identified as Lue and Se Vang, both 37, died from their injuries. Their 11-year-old daughter sustained "life-threatening" wounds but underwent successful surgery. Thankfully, a younger sibling, 7, remained unharmed and is now with family.
Sheriff Zanoni expressed the profound impact of this tragedy. "Two children have lost their mother and father due to the actions of their own sibling," he stated, highlighting the lasting ripple effects of such violence.
The motive behind the attacks remains unclear, with authorities now investigating the boy's school history and family dynamics for potential clues regarding any "history of mental illness" or "violence." "This is not normal," Zanoni emphasized, noting the unusual brutality of the incident.
The Fresno County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case for prosecution.
