Florida Man Charged with Murder After Allegedly Shooting Half-Brother Searching for Cell Phone on Christmas Day

In Illinois, a Florida man, Kendall Yarborough, 28, is accused of shooting his half-brother, James Watson, during a Christmas visit, leading to Watson's death. Yarborough faces two first-degree murder charges after the incident in Naperville, a suburb of Chicago, as per a news release from DuPage County.

Sheriff's Deputies responded to a 911 call about a shooting at a home on Wood Court around 3:06 p.m. They found James Watson with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead.

Reports suggest that Watson was upset, searching for his phone and slammed a table, leading Yarborough upstairs to allegedly shoot towards Watson, hitting him in the abdomen.

Family members called for help and tried to assist Watson. A handgun and a spent bullet casing were found by officers in the house, leading to Yarborough's arrest without resistance.

Officials labeled the incident as a senseless act of violence. DuPage County State’s Attorney condemned the act and expressed condolences to Watson's family, while Sheriff James Mendrick highlighted the tragedy of domestic violence occurring on Christmas.

In court, Yarborough requested a delay for his pre-trial detention hearing, and it remains uncertain if he has legal representation at this time.
