Former NFL Player, Sergio Brown Pleads Not Guilty to Mother's Murder

Former NFL football player, Sergio Brown, pleaded not guilty to the murder of his mother, Myrtle Brown, on Wednesday. Brown's mother was last seen alive on September 14th at their shared home. Her body was found two days later, and the death was ruled a homicide. Brown was arrested after trying to re-enter the United States from Mexico.

Myrtle Brown, 73, was found about 100 to 150 feet from her back door after her sons went to check on her and discovered blood on the patio with no one home. Brown, 35, was officially listed as missing at the time of his mother's death, but he was later found in Mexico.

Shortly after his mother's death, Brown appeared to post a video on Instagram claiming the death was "fake news" and blaming the FBI. He also appeared to be partying in Mexico during this time. Brown was arrested on a first-degree murder charge and is scheduled to appear in court again next January.

Brown played seven seasons in the NFL with the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills. His last season in the league was 2016.
