Man, Angel Sanchez Jr. Arrested for Sucker Punching Grandfather & Teen in Separate Attacks, Potential Hate Crime Investigated

A Santa Barbara man has been arrested for two unprovoked attacks in Calabasas, California. The suspect, 29-year-old Angel Sanchez Jr., is accused of sucker punching a 60-year-old grandfather who was pushing his granddaughter in a stroller and assaulting a teenage boy. Both victims are of Asian descent, and police are investigating whether the attacks were racially motivated.

Sanchez Jr. was arrested on Wednesday afternoon in Oxnard. He has been charged with assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. However, he could face additional charges if the attacks are determined to be hate crimes.

The first attack occurred on Tuesday evening in Calabasas, a wealthy community known for its celebrity residents. Surveillance footage shows Sanchez Jr. approaching the grandfather and punching him in the face without warning. The victim fell to the ground, and his granddaughter's stroller overturned. The suspect then fled the scene in his car.

The second attack targeted a teenage boy shortly before the assault on the grandfather. Police are still gathering details about this incident.

Fortunately, neither victim suffered serious injuries. However, the attacks have left the Calabasas community shaken and worried. Neighbours described the grandfather as a friendly and well-liked member of the community.

Police are urging anyone with information about the attacks to come forward. They are also asking people to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
