Spotsylvania, VA - A two-month nightmare for a New York family ended in heartbreaking discovery last November when 33-year-old Terrence Smith was found deceased in Virginia. His remains, sadly, were just miles from the home of a female acquaintance he'd come to visit.
Terrence's journey began on October 28th, when he left New York for Spotsylvania. His reason: a planned visit with a friend. But when Terrence didn't return and calls went unanswered, alarm bells started ringing. His family, concerned about his unusual silence, reported him missing on November 1st.
"This wasn't Terrence," read a statement from the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office. "He wouldn't just disappear without letting anyone know." With their family's persistence, the female acquaintance finally reported him missing.
Detective work soon revealed Terrence's phone records and whereabouts during his Virginia visit. On November 16th, his remains were discovered near the Timber Ridge Townhomes, not far from the acquaintance's residence.
Adding to the mystery, Terrence's family uncovered a troubling truth. During his stay in Virginia, his bank account had been completely emptied.
"We have no clue what happened down there," Terrence's brother Michael Perry told PIX11 News, frustration lacing his voice. "But we have our suspicions."
While the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office confirmed they're actively investigating the case, the cause of Terrence's death remains undetermined.
This tragic incident leaves a community reeling and Terrence's family heartbroken. As the investigation continues, one thing remains clear: justice for Terrence is long overdue.
