Tragedy strikes Texas town as 16-year-old cheerleader Lizbeth Medina is found murdered in her apartment

 

The tight-knit community of Edna, Texas is reeling after the brutal murder of 16-year-old Lizbeth Medina. Lizbeth, a vibrant cheerleader at Edna High School, was found deceased in her apartment on December 5th, 2023, just hours before she was expected to participate in the town's beloved Christmas parade with her fellow cheerleaders.

Details surrounding Lizbeth's death are still emerging, with authorities remaining tight-lipped about the cause of death as of Thursday afternoon. However, the Edna Police Department has confirmed they are treating the case as a capital murder, and have requested assistance from the Texas Rangers in their investigation.

Lizbeth's heartbroken mother, Jacqueline Medina, spoke to local media, calling her daughter "my world, my everything." She described the pain of discovering her daughter's lifeless body at home, after becoming worried when she didn't see her at the Christmas parade. "It should have been a great day," Jacqueline said, her voice choked with tears. "She was going to be with her cheer squad. Someone took that away from her, and from us."

Jacqueline is desperate for answers, pleading with anyone who may have information about her daughter's death to come forward. "I need to know who would do this to an amazing little girl like Lizbeth," she said.

The Medina family has set up a Cash App account, "$justiceforlizbeth," to raise funds for Lizbeth's funeral expenses and to support their search for justice. A post shared on the account describes Lizbeth as a "beautiful and talented girl full of life & many dreams." It goes on to say, "Let's come together to support a family in need & get Lizbeth the justice she deserves."
