Utah Man Faces Murder Charge in Twin Toddler Abuse Case

In Utah, a man faces severe charges, including murder, following the death of a 2-year-old boy and the serious injury of his twin sister, as reported by authorities.

Jonathan Allen Dunn stands accused of first-degree murder alongside charges of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and aggravated child abuse, according to court records.

Allegedly babysitting the twins in Roy, Utah, Dunn purportedly engaged in brutal acts, punching the children in their backs and chests, confessing to authorities that he struck them excessively, pinched them, repeatedly threw them on the bed, and pushed them into door frames, as stated in the affidavit of probable cause. Dunn also purportedly administered children’s Tylenol and other medications to the siblings.

Additionally, Dunn allegedly admitted to pinching the genitalia of both children and using a hard foam mallet and the butt of a Nerf gun to hit their heads, as outlined in the police affidavit.

On the morning of December 21, Dunn called 911 after finding the boy unresponsive and the girl severely injured, according to law enforcement.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered the lifeless boy on the porch and the girl on the couch with facial bruises. Sadly, the boy was pronounced dead, while the girl was rushed to the hospital due to a brain bleed.

The boy, identified as Aleister in a GoFundMe campaign organized by Shaylee Lindsey, seeks to cover funeral expenses, medical bills, and support for Aleister’s sisters dealing with this traumatic loss. The fundraising has amassed nearly $10,000.

Dunn's plea status remains unclear, as court records indicate his appointment of a public defender, though contact with his lawyer wasn't immediately possible, as per PEOPLE.
