Young Thug Trial Delayed After Co-defendant Stabbed in Jail

The high-profile RICO trial of rapper Young Thug (real name Jeffery Williams) has been put on hold for at least a day after one of his co-defendants, Shannon Stillwell (also known as Shannon Jackson and SB), was stabbed in the Fulton County Jail overnight.
Stillwell is currently in stable condition at an Atlanta hospital. He was indicted in May 2022 on charges related to murder, racketeering, gang involvement, and gun possession.

Authorities charged Willie Brown, another inmate, with aggravated assault and possession of prohibited items in connection with the stabbing. The sheriff's office confirmed the incident and stated the fight occurred between Brown and Stillwell in the same zone of the jail. The motive for the attack remains unknown.

The news of the stabbing disrupted the ongoing trial proceedings. Judge Ural Glanville informed the jury about the incident and announced a recess for the day. He acknowledged that such delays are unavoidable and reassured everyone that the issue would be addressed on a daily basis.

This incident adds another layer of complexity to an already complicated case. The trial, which started in November, has been delayed before due to months of jury selection and unexpected setbacks.

Young Thug, along with five co-defendants, faces a potentially lengthy trial based on an 86-page RICO indictment filed against 28 people last spring. While nine defendants have since taken plea deals, others have had their cases separated.

The trial, expected to last at least half a year, is being closely watched by the legal and music communities alike. Stay tuned for updates as the situation unfolds.
