Authorities Confirm That a Man Murdered His Wife With Hammer, Buried her Body, and Told The Kids She Had Terminal Cancer

A man from Tennessee, aged 70, was arrested this week for the alleged murder of his 76-year-old wife on New Year's Day. He is accused of fatally beating her with a hammer inside their home and later burying her on their property in another county.

Identified as Joseph Glynn, he was apprehended and charged with murder, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse related to the death of his wife, Jackie Glynn.

The news of Joseph Glynn's arrest emerged shortly after the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a Silver Alert for Jackie Glynn, who had been reported missing. She was last seen at her Nashville home, driving a 2010 Toyota RAV4, with concerns about her well-being due to a medical condition.

The discovery of Jackie Glynn's body was made public by the TBI, followed by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department announcing the arrest of her husband for her murder.

According to details from an affidavit obtained by Nashville CBS affiliate WTVF, Joseph Glynn allegedly misled Jackie Glynn's children by claiming she had left home due to terminal cancer, a statement refuted by her doctors.

During the investigation, Joseph Glynn admitted to authorities that he struck his wife with a hammer, causing her death. He then confessed to transporting her body in his car to their property in DeKalb County, where he buried her after concealing her in a vehicle cargo box.

Joseph Glynn is currently held on a bond of $1,030,000 and is expected to face further charges in DeKalb County, with a scheduled court appearance on Tuesday.
