Colorado Says Enough! Trump Lawyer's Guilty Plea Triggers Misconduct Probe

Jenna Ellis, the lawyer who tearfully confessed to a crime during Trump's election fight, is back in hot water. This time, it's not Georgia, but her old home state of Colorado. They're accusing her of breaking lawyer rules after she admitted lying about the 2020 election.

Remember Ellis, the one who smiled for her mug shot after being charged with a big election mess in Georgia? Well, Colorado wants to punish her for it. They say her guilty plea to making false statements in Georgia breaks their lawyer rules.

Ellis was part of Trump's "elite strike force" trying to overturn President Biden's win. She joined forces with Rudy Giuliani and others to push fake claims about Georgia voting, even pressuring officials to change the results. This landed her in a big legal mess in Georgia, where she eventually admitted to lying.

But Colorado isn't letting her off the hook. They argue, "Hey, if you admit to a crime in another state, that breaks our rules too!" So now she's facing lawyer trouble in two states at once.

Ellis says she already settled all this last year, but Colorado isn't convinced. They say her actions hurt people's trust in lawyers and reflect badly on her profession. This could mean anything from a slap on the wrist to losing her law license.

This isn't Ellis' first time in trouble with lawyer rules. In 2023, she got a slap on the wrist for spreading lies about the election. Now, with a real crime on her record, things could get much harsher.
