Tragedy in Bessemer: 5-Year-Old Boy Shot & Killed During Haircut - 2 Suspects Arrested, 1 on the Run


Tragedy struck a Bessemer, Alabama barbershop on Sunday morning, claiming the innocent life of 5-year-old Brandon Jamal Nation III. The boy, enjoying a haircut with his mother, fell victim to stray bullets fired at the house, leaving a community heartbroken and demanding justice.

As shots ripped through the air near the 500 block of Seventh Avenue North, Brandon became an unintended target. Though rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries hours later. The barber, also shot, remains in critical condition.

Bessemer police are actively seeking three suspects: Kendrick O'Neal, 26, and Tatyonna Estacia Smith have been arrested and charged with attempted murder, capital murder of a child, and capital murder committed from outside a dwelling. Kedarrius Odell Mack, 25, remains at large, facing the same charges.

"It's terrible," a police spokesperson stated, echoing the sentiment of a community grappling with the loss of a child. "Our thoughts are with the family during this incredibly challenging time."
