Pennsylvania Mom Accused of Smothering Infant Son to Death, Staging Scene to Look Like He Died in Crib

In a tragic turn of events, 21-year-old Patricia Hullenbaugh from Pennsylvania is now facing severe charges of criminal homicide, strangulation, child endangerment, and possession of a crime instrument following the death of her 9-month-old son, Waylon Long.

The horrifying incident unfolded nearly three weeks before Hullenbaugh's arrest when authorities responded to a distress call on January 6 at their Indiana Borough home.

Despite the valiant efforts of officers, medics, and the child's father, Kody Long, Waylon tragically passed away on January 11.

The investigation into this heart-wrenching case took a disturbing turn as Hullenbaugh's initial narrative crumbled under scrutiny. Through a follow-up interview on January 24, she shockingly confessed to placing a blanket over Waylon's head "until he stopped crying," resulting in the infant ceasing to breathe.

Instead of seeking immediate help, Hullenbaugh engaged in a series of alarming actions to conceal her involvement. She strategically positioned Waylon's lifeless body to obscure her culpability and even went to the extent of placing him between crib slats in a desperate attempt to cover up her actions.

Kody Long, grief-stricken over the loss of his son, shared poignant memories of Waylon's joyful demeanor. The infant, who would have turned 10 months old on the day of his tragic demise, was described as a source of happiness, known for his infectious giggles and belly laughs.

As the legal proceedings unfold, Hullenbaugh remains incarcerated without bail, facing the weight of the charges against her. The court appearance is scheduled for February 8, leaving a community in shock and grappling with the profound tragedy that has unfolded within its midst.
