9-Year-Old Alleged to Have Killed Father with Hatchet, Attack Looked Like Violent Video Game Played by Boy

A deeply disturbing case has unfolded in Tooele, Utah, where a 9-year-old boy was arrested in connection with his father's death.

Details emerging from recently released arrest warrants paint a chilling picture.

According to reports, emergency personnel initially responded to the scene believing it to be a suicide attempt.

However, upon arrival, they discovered the 32-year-old father unconscious with a gunshot wound to the head.

A closer examination revealed further complexities.

The victim sustained additional injuries, including lacerations on his head, face, hands, and arms.

These wounds, according to authorities, were inconsistent with suicide and more indicative of a struggle, potentially suggesting self-defense.

The investigation took a tragic turn when details about the events leading up to the incident surfaced.

The boy and his father reportedly went to bed early after the boy allegedly misbehaved.

Later that night, the boy came out from the room claiming his father was dead and bleeding from the head.

Adding another layer of mystery, authorities found a handgun missing a bullet and a bloodied hatchet near the body.

Other occupants in the house during the incident complicates the situation further.

Two adult roommates with their young children were also present at the time.

Disturbingly, the warrants reveal the boy's frequent use of electronic devices, including his phone and tablet, and his access to potentially violent content.

Reports suggest instances of the boy watching and sharing age-restricted videos, leading to disciplinary action.

Furthermore, details from the warrant indicate a possible link between the boy's gaming habits and the crime.

The boy allegedly had a preference for violent video games, and one game in particular featured weapons similar to those found at the crime scene – a gun and a hatchet.

While a motive remains unclear at this time, the boy's arrest marks the beginning of an ongoing investigation.
