A Texas woman who disappeared 25 years ago after leaving work may have been found.
Police are investigating some remains discovered on the property of her ex-boyfriend, Terry Rose, 67.
During a press conference last week, the Beaumont Police Department revealed they had executed a search warrant at Rose's home and uncovered remains.
Beaumont Assistant Police Chief Jason Plunkett stated, “The identity of the remains are being confirmed at this time. However, we believe they are the remains of Kimberly Langwell.”
Kimberly Langwell, 34, was last heard from at around 5:30 p.m. on July 9, 1999.
She had called her 15-year-old daughter, Tiffani, to say she would be home soon for dinner.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by PEOPLE, Langwell mentioned she planned to stop by Rose’s residence before heading home.
Later that night, her 1994 Nissan Altima was found abandoned in a pharmacy parking lot.
For the next two decades, there were no confirmed sightings or digital traces of Langwell, and she was presumed dead, according to the affidavit.
In April 2024, police received a tip from a “reliable informant.”
The informant reportedly told them that Langwell was killed at Rose’s residence, and Rose buried her on the property.
This tip led to the execution of the evidentiary search warrant at Rose's home.
He was taken into custody on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
“It’s a long time coming and I’m so very grateful to have my mother back,” Tiffani McInnis, Langwell’s daughter, told 12NewsNow.
“Not in the way I wanted her, but to know that she’s no longer being held is a great feeling.”
