Breaking News: Arrest Made in Bastrop Human Remains Case




In Bastrop, a significant development has occurred regarding the discovery of human remains on June 23. 

The Bastrop Police Department confirmed that the remains were located in the woods behind 1510 Daisy Street. 

They have been identified as belonging to 14-year-old Ashley Barnes, who was reported missing by her family on June 20. 

Following the grim discovery, authorities issued a felony arrest warrant for 44-year-old Montrell Donell Holmes.

Today, on June 27, the U.S. Marshall’s Service in Arizona located Holmes using cell phone tower data, resulting in his arrest on charges of second-degree murder. 

Assistant Police Chief Richard Pace praised the efforts of his team, particularly highlighting the dedication of Capt. 

Gerald Givens and Detective Libby Brixey in ensuring justice for Ashley and providing closure to her grieving family.
