Fake Date Turns into Brutal Attack in Alabama

Shailyn Diaz, a 27-year-old woman, recently pleaded guilty to attempted murder for her role in a horrific attack.

The details of the case are unbelievable and shocking.

Diaz allegedly used social media to lure a 33-year-old man into a fake date.

On the night of January 7th, she picked him up near his home.

What started as a seemingly normal date quickly turned sinister.

According to Sheriff Tony Helms, Diaz had the victim "handcuffed and blindfolded as part of their date."

This should have been a huge red flag for the victim, but tragically, he may not have anticipated the danger that awaited.

The situation escalated further when the victim complained about the handcuffs being too tight.

Diaz, instead of offering help, pulled over and claimed the keys were in the trunk.

This was the moment her accomplice, 21-year-old Robert Lane Hall, entered the car from the trunk.

Sheriff Helms describes Hall as getting inside the car and putting a cable around the victim's neck.

The ordeal didn't end there.

Diaz and Hall drove the victim around the county before stopping and dragging him out of the vehicle.

He was then subjected to a brutal attack, being stabbed a horrifying 19 times with a seven-inch knife.

In a display of remarkable courage, the victim "pretended to go limp for a minute," according to Sheriff Helms.

This tactic may have saved his life.

When Hall briefly stepped away, the victim seized the opportunity and ran away.

Sheriff Helms rightly commends the victim's strength, stating, "He's tough... We were surprised [he survived]."

The investigation led to Hall's identification.

Shockingly, he reportedly called police dispatch and confessed to the attack and Sheriff Helms describes him as being "very open about it."

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, with Hall claiming to have "had a problem somehow" with the victim.

This case is a reminder of the dangers lurking online.

Sheriff Helms offers a crucial piece of advice: "Be careful who you talk to on social media."

While online connections can be positive, it's vital to be cautious and avoid meeting strangers in isolated locations.

Thankfully, the victim in this case survived.

However, the physical and emotional scars of this experience will likely stay with him for a long time.

Both Diaz and Hall are facing the consequences of their actions, with Hall receiving a life sentence and Diaz sentenced to 10 years in prison.
