The search for 37-year-old Megan Bos ended sadly last week when her body was found inside a storage container in Waukegan, Illinois.
What started as a missing persons case has now turned into a criminal investigation, with a local man facing charges.
Megan Bos was reported missing on March 9, 2025, after she didn’t return to her home in Antioch.
While searching for her, police discovered that Megan had connections to Waukegan.
Because of this, the Antioch and Waukegan police departments worked together on the case.

On April 10, 2025, the criminal investigation led detectives to Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez.
He is a 52-year-old man from Waukegan who had frequent contact with Megan Bos.
When he was questioned initially, Mendoza-Gonzalez said that Megan Bos visited his home on February 19, 2025 but left afterward.
However, under further questioning, he admitted to hiding her body after she accidentally died.

Mendoza-Gonzalez eventually led police to his property in the 700 block of Yeoman Street, where Bos’s remains were found inside a storage container
According to NBC Chicago, Mendoza-Gonzalez said that Bos had allegedly taken an unknown drug while at his home before overdosing.
Instead of calling for help, he left her body in his basement for several days before moving it to the container—where it remained for over a month.
Adding to the disturbing details, Mendoza-Gonzalez destroyed Bos’s phone and discarded it.
Criminal investigators believe he probably did this to hide evidence and to obstruct the investigation.
An autopsy done on April 11, 2025, showed no signs of injury or struggle, as reported by WGNTV.
The exact cause of death is still unknown and will be determined after toxicology tests are completed.

Mendoza-Gonzalez now faces multiple charges, including:
- Concealment of a death
- Abuse of a corpse
- Obstruction of justice
His first court appearance was on April 12, 2025.
