Justice Served: Man Receives Life Sentence for Murdering Mail Carrier Over Failed Weed Delivery

A man has been sentenced to life in prison following his conviction for the murder of a mail carrier in South Carolina.

The tragic incident occurred in September 2019 when Trevor Raekwon Seward, 25, confronted 64-year-old Irene Pressley after she left a note in his mailbox, instructing him to pick up a package of weed from a local post office.

When Pressley refused to hand over the package, Seward obtained a semi-automatic rifle and ambushed her as she drove down a street in Andrews.

He fired approximately 20 shots into the back of her mail truck, striking Pressley multiple times.

Seward later searched the truck for the marijuana and any other valuable items before leaving Pressley's body inside and driving the vehicle into a ditch.

The package of marijuana was subsequently found on the street where the shooting occurred.

During the sentencing hearing, Pressley's sister expressed her grief, holding Seward responsible for their father's decline in health following the loss of his beloved daughter.

Seward, who listened to the emotional statements made by Pressley's family, declined to speak and expressed a desire not to cause further confusion.

In addition to Seward's sentence, his co-defendant Jerome Terrell Davis, 31, received a 25-year prison term after pleading guilty to robbery and conspiracy charges related to the incident.

It is worth noting that the value of the marijuana package was relatively minimal, estimated to be around $1,600 in Colorado, where it was legal at the time.

Even considering the period when marijuana was illegal nationwide, the package's value would not have exceeded $2,600 based on historical data.
