Foiled Kidnapping in Miami: How a Young Girl's Bravery Saved Her from Danger

A man has been arrested in Miami after allegedly attempting to kidnap a 6-year-old girl at an apartment complex.

Leonardo Venegas, 32, was taken into custody on charges of kidnapping and child abuse.

The incident occurred at an apartment complex on Northeast 2nd Avenue, where the victim was playing with her siblings in the courtyard.

Venegas, driving a white Range Rover, parked near their apartment. He grabbed the girl's arm and attempted to carry her away, but she fought back, biting him and managing to escape his grip. Venegas slapped her and fled the scene.

Surveillance footage captured the incident, and Venegas was identified through the vehicle's license plate.

Authorities apprehended him, and he claimed to be looking for houses to buy in the area.

However, no "for sale" signs were present, raising suspicions. Venegas remains in custody without bond.

The police are urging anyone with information on Venegas or possible additional victims to come forward.

This concerning case highlights the importance of child safety and supervision while playing outside.
