Speeding BMW Driver Records Fatal Crash While Driving at 123mph: 12-Year Prison Sentence Imposed


A man who recorded himself speeding at 123mph and weaving dangerously between motorway traffic has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after causing a fatal road accident. 

Adil Iqbal, 22, was driving his father's BMW on the M66 in Bury, Greater Manchester, when the incident occurred on May 13 this year.

Frankie Jules-Hough, 38, was tragically killed in the collision. She had pulled over on the hard shoulder due to a tyre puncture and was making a call to inform someone about her delay when the accident happened.

Iqbal's reckless driving led to a high-speed crash, resulting in Ms. Jules-Hough sustaining fatal brain injuries. 

She was also 17 weeks pregnant at the time, and her unborn daughter, Neeve, passed away with her two days later in the hospital. 

Her nine-year-old son, Thomas Spencer, and nephew, Tobias Welby, suffered serious brain injuries and were left in a coma with uncertain long-term outcomes.

Relatives of Ms. Jules-Hough attended the Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester, where dashcam footage and Iqbal's phone recordings were shown during the trial.

Adil Iqbal, from Accrington, Lancashire, pleaded guilty to two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and one count of causing death by dangerous driving.
