Suspected Gunman Identified as BLM Activist Kimbrady Carriker, In The Philadelphia Mass Shooting Incidient
The suspected gunman involved in the tragic mass shooting in Philadelphia, which claimed the lives of five men and injured two children, has been identified by the police as 40-year-old Kimbrady Carriker, a Crossdresser BLM activist from Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Carriker was apprehended shortly after the shooting spree in the Kingsessing neighborhood on the eve of the Fourth of July holiday. The victims, ranging in age from 16 to 59, were fatally shot by the gunman. One of the victims was discovered four hours later when a man returned home to find his 31-year-old son dead in the living room with gunshot wounds.
The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and it is unclear if there is any connection between the victims or any link to the suspect.
During the incident, families were enjoying neighborhood festivities when the suspect, armed with an AR-style rifle and a handgun, opened fire on unsuspecting victims.
Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw stated in an overnight news conference that it is not yet known whether the suspect was firing from the rifle or the handgun at the time he was pursued by law enforcement, but it was confirmed that he was actively shooting.
Officers were dispatched to the scene in Kingsessing where they discovered multiple victims at 56th Street and Chester Avenue. They heard additional gunshots on Kingsessing Avenue and found multiple casings. As they proceeded further down the street, they heard more gunshots in the area of the 1800 block of Frazier Street.
The suspect was eventually apprehended in the rear alley of the 1600 block of Frazier Street. He was found in possession of the rifle, handgun, multiple magazines, and a police scanner.
Outlaw expressed gratitude for the swift response of the officers, emphasizing their bravery and courage in the face of danger. Another individual, believed to have picked up the gun and returned fire in the direction of the shooter, was also taken into custody, although authorities are unsure if there is any connection between this person and the mass shooter.
The crime scene spanned an area of two by four blocks, with approximately 50 shell casings recovered, according to officials.
In a news conference, Outlaw revealed that all the victims, including the two-year-old and the 13-year-old, were male. The FBI defines a mass shooting as an incident in which at least four people are killed by gunfire.
The total number of victims increased overnight, with the discovery of a fifth male victim four hours after the initial shooting. This victim was found dead in the living room of his residence, and authorities believe the homicide is related to the earlier incident based on the location and matching ballistic evidence.
